COMMENT FROM SOUTH AFRICA
Message to 3HP from South Africa
Man you have to hit South Africa. Hip Hop is starting to grow more faster than anything here man especially in my area. I live only 10 min away from Soweto... I live in a place called Eldorado Park were the youth is involved in drugs, sex, murdering, gang fights and the most common car theft and high jacking. The secular music has a great effect on them and they believe every thing these rappers say, There are some disturbing songs going around thru the cellphone that involve some guys in my area and guys from another area, its almost like the bief with West side and East side. These guys cus and speak about murdering each other in the streets and even 5 year old kids listen to this (wish I had the recording software so I can connect to them with the gospel). I listen to your music and excites me and I just want the people in Eldos to know that there IS some banging beats with a positive message in it and being a christian is cool. Anyway if God wants you to come then he will make a way, Because I know "you have to clean your house 1st before you clean sum1 else's house" but in the mean time the only way I can make people listen to you is by banging them beats with our dance moves (Check out the videos "ceequince dance crew"). COMMENTS ON G STRONG
Just when I was tired of the same sound floating aroung here came a artist in Atlanta named Gabriel Strong. I spoke with a couple of artist that know him and they had nothing but great things to say about him. This was the first time I really felt the emotion and creativity bond with conviction in Holy Hip Hop.
I had to write about this guy. I heard from a source in The A that he will dropping a album soon on a label called 3HP Records owned by Troy Edwards. 3Hp Records has been known for there prize artist Mouthpeice. This new artist Gabriel Strong has the ability to put them in the ranks of the major labels. He has the finess of a real Emcee.
I seen him perform at Turner Field. It was amazing seeing the true art used to glorify God. I'm waiting to hear more from this artist. I checked his myspace page and found that he will be live in Macon Ga at the Community Church of God. They were looking for 5 artist so 150 of them had to performance battle, interview etc and the decision was made. Also he's the first Positive Hip-Hop artist of his kind that they've selected to be on this major secular tour the 1st show is Feb 13th, 2009. The tour will kick off in the Atlanta, Ga GOD is positioning him to go into a serious area so he need your prayers and support. Diddy Blames DJs For Decline In Hip Hop, Talks New Album
February 2nd, 2009 Hip Hop entrepreneur and rapper Diddy has become one of the latest artists to pass the blame regarding Hip Hop's current status.
In a recent interview with MTV, Diddy explains why Hip Hop could have been better if the DJ hadn't fallen off.
"People have figured out the formula when they make records for radio, and DJs ain't DJs no more," Diddy explained to MTV. "DJs don't break records no more. DJs don't play album cuts. DJs play what is going to move the crowd. DJs, they don't expose you to the newness. That was the DJs' thing. Hip Hop is in a recession also. It's not dead, it's definitely way better than where it was at, as far as with 'Ye, T.I. and with Jeezy. It's so much great stuff out there, the responsibility has to come with the DJs."
In similar news, Diddy is currently working on his latest album which he promises will have an unexpected and experimental sound.
"Right now, I'm working on my record, and it'll be out in the end of summer," said Diddy. "It's feeling good. It's different. I'm creating a new sound. It doesn't sound like anybody else's stuff out there. With that comes a risk. I'm excited about the risk. I do have a beef a little bit with the game right now. I think Hip Hop has lost its risk-taking quality. Everybody goes to the comfort zone. It doesn't have that risk anymore. You're not like, 'What is that?' when you hear that record anymore."
